About

In this business-orientated blog as it is published here on WordPress.com, the following text of The Rules of Acquisition blog is written as, or in essence, is put forward as being a collection of essentuial business quotations, put together with a collection of astute business principles, here (as a working title) they being called, The Rules of Business. These rules, it is hoped, honestly and basically set out ideals and concepts that, ideally, gives an informed, unbiased and vital picture of the many interesting ways of achieving a good level of business acumen. The text of the list of rules themselves, being set out (it is hoped, with a fair degree of clarity) in the form of orderly business rules which, in the encouragement of contemplation of their meaning (if not their lack of ambiguity), fosters the ability to make good judgments and quick appraisals and the ability to make profitable business decisions. The business quotations (which are mainly about commercial business in all its forms) are included in this blog as illustrations of the nature of business to those who are involved in it. In themselves, generally, these quotations give a fair indication of what it is like for businessmen to do business, and to do it well.

In effect, these short rules may be seen as (or are honestly intended as being) a work designed to be a collection of brief, practical and well-crafted guidelines concentrating their critical focus on basic stratagems, ploys and devices in the business world, and is intended as a precept-based information source mainly aimed at catering for the numerous and varied business information requirements of the business community. However, as this blog is provided here for the consideration and use of those involved in any form of innovative or entrepreneurial market-based enterprise which ultimately involves buying and selling, then please be sure to use it with care and consideration, specifically in regard to those parameters.

The Rules of Acquisition blog as it now stands in this Internet blog format is primarily intended to be a business Internet information facility, and a convenient starting point for the wider distribution of a certain type of less widely available, but still essential business information. While the actual information encapsulated in this set of rules, in the main seems to have its beginnings founded in well-known real-politic perceptions, practical business methods, classic management techniques and well known militaristic strategies and tactics, and which are values that are to be found at the heart of any vitally robust age. Ideally these rules are designed to function as a proficient set of guidelines for engaging in effective business, and are intended as a focusing mechanism and an aid to concentration for how a businessman, while he pursues his chosen vocation, chooses how to decide on taking differing courses of actions among the varying degrees of risk encountered in business.

At present, the text of this work being stored here by WordPress.com as it is compiled and added to with each new post, together with its accompanying number of quotations about business, is specifically provided for the fair and equal use of and in the interests of any businessmen, entrepreneurs and other innovative business thinkers who might wish to read it. However, any appropriate use of, fair access to, or genuine interest in this strategic and tactical business orientated information is invited from all sources, either in the business world or not. While full intellectual access to this text is welcome provided that due credit is included in any subsequent use of information as and where appropriate, or possible, in full accordance with international copyright law in respect of intellectual property rights concerning the original nature of this work.

Most books on business must to some extent be to do with such vital matters as opportunism in designing plans that make full use of artifice and measures of expediency, and the necessity of dispatch and determination in their pursuit once plans have been formed. That must then reflect the essentially treacherous and underhand nature of business competition in the real market place, and necessitates the use of guile and stratagem suited to the occasion. While the artifices of business, in being inherent to it and inexhaustible, must therefore be susceptible of treatment in a great variety of ways. One of which it can be demonstrated is to focus and explain its more esoteric workings through the use and application of certain rules of conduct for conducting good, sound business using effective business methods and stratagems, as are presented here in these informed, forceful and subtle rules that follow. In fact, they merely reflect in a tangible form what ambitious, determined businessmen must be prepared to do in their business concerns to profit fully from their actions, and so how to accomplish that in the most proficient and practical way possible. By their very nature there can be no simple excuse here for what these opportunistic writings actually profess to be, nor can there be any simple moralizing or casual apology knowingly set out here in this introduction for that purpose.

For anyone who has ever planned for success in what he does or in what he has chosen to pursue, either in business, politics, military matters or otherwise, following specific rules are going to be a vital part of that planning, without which conditions for continued success do not readily emerge. Set rules must provide a consistent, understandable and repeatable standard on how to act, while following particular rules can thus have great practical importance for the person who follows them. Typically, they are carefully thought out in detail well before the situations they apply to actually occur and may cover a number of scenarios, with different rules for each. Rules also help synchronize components of a strategy by allowing their users to understand, forecast, and tailor their actions more efficiently.

However, planning for success through the use of a number of such rules which have been developed as stratagems and ploys, or such a set of guidelines intended to ensure success (as, it may be seen to a certain degree to be, as are grouped together here in this particular collection of business precepts, practices, tactics and stratagems) while they would make things more predictable and so more controllable, will never show any certainty of success, only fair chances of success if used with foresight and imagination. Moreover, many actions that would be permissible under such a set of exacting, fundamental, and uncompromising rules would be poor tactics, as such rules only proscribe what may or may not be done; everything else is permitted, including complete incompetence on the part of anyone who follows them blindly without any real understanding. In addition, it is also prudent while considering in detail the uses and abuses of these rules, that their user should also be aware while using them, that all subsequent actions involving strategies and tactics based upon them are inexorably linked in intimate detail to the results of the vagaries of chance amid the inevitable process of change itself.

The following text of what has, for convenience, here initially been titled, The Rules of Business, and produced specifically for this blog has been transcribed to a great extent in the order it was originally written several years ago, for publication at some time as a business motivation aid on an appropriate business information orientated website. It being a verbatim, full and accurate rendition of the original text as it was intended to be, and which here has been scrupulously adhered to where appropriate, but altered when necessary (hopefully to improve it when possible) throughout the editorial process of placing it on this blog. The original material of this work which, as it is seen here in its entirety in its final form for publication, has generally been sourced in some form or another by me from the appropriate business, academic and educational sources that compile such obscure business ideas of this specific business-based, or entrepreneurial nature and bias; material that on detailed analysis is ideal for extracting business axioms and models of behaviour from. While the actual writing of which has been done mainly in a summarized and compressed form being akin mainly to the aphoristic form in its relation to the axiomatic, as can be seen here when looked for. In addition, the original text of the written work from which this blog has sprung has also been thoroughly reviewed and revised by me before being put on this blog, in regard to the detection of any errors, omissions, or mistakes that may have been present in the original text.

The outlook of this work is consistent and not markedly different from the first to the last page: it is essentially to do with entrepreneurial and business based strategy, tactics, ideals, precepts, innovation and practices, and nothing divergent or irrelevant to this central theme is included that is allowed to disturb that purpose. However despite the validity of the material presented here, and while every care has been taken editorially in the compilation of this work for this blog, neither I as the copyrighter holder of this blog nor the web-based publisher of the work accept any liability for any financial or other loss incurred by reliance placed on the information contained within the text of The Rules of Business as presented in this web-based version, or any future e-book version of the work. Simply put, anyone who uses this work as a guide to improve his lot in the world has his own choices to make, and once made are his responsibility; so therefore, as a responsible individual, he must learn to live with them (as any responsible individual must do in this world) or abdicate any personal responsibility for his life as he lives it. While for someone not to take responsibility for his actions is, of course, to live as a slave, and that is, to anyone with any pride in himself and who takes pride in what he does, a life not worth living.

Posibly it also needs to be said in summing up that this work is intended solely as a guide to actions, specifically though the exercise of the individual’s free will and not as a fixed, immutable source of pre-ordained conduct for individuals in the business world, or in any other walk of life. Furthermore, anybody using or adapting the material on this blog, either as a ethical standard of business behaviour or of moral conduct in the business community, either now or in the future, is certainly advised to exercise a fair amount of caution and diligence while doing so.
